ABOUT THE PROJECT:

I spent about 7 days photographing the circus Roland-Busch during their visit in Munich. I got to know the artists and learned about their lives. I watched their shows, went to their trailers and spent a lot of time capturing small details backstage. It is a fully different world and one that is not always easy to live in. They are a group of several families from different countries who live for the circus. Most of them were born with this life. They are fun, hard working and talented, but unfortunately it doesn`t work out the way they wish it to be. People aren`t visiting circuses anymore. Often, all the artists got ready, warmed uo, put their costumes and make up on, only for then to realise that no one showed up. The manage with 1100 seats: fully empty.
