10 AMAZING things to do on Tenerife

If you’re planning a trip to Tenerife or you are already there but don’t know what to do. Here are 10 things you need to edit to your bucket list.

Hi, I am Malina, a German photographer and traveller and I just spent three amazing weeks on Tenerife. Here are my top 10 activities and things to see!

1. Make a beach hopping day

Spend a day exploring all the amazing beaches Tenerife has to offer. Visit beaches like playa de los Roques (photo), Playa El Bollulo or Playa Honda.

2. Take an eco friendly boat and go whale watching for only 12,50€

This was one of my favorite activities I did on Tenerife! This is the cheapest option to see whales very close in front of Los Cristianos in the south and it is even on an eco friendly boat! The tour lasts 2 to 3 hours and you even get the chance to go swimming and snorkelling, if you bring your snorkels.

3. Drive through Masca

Rent a car and explore the beautiful area around Masca.

4. Visit the Arco de Tajao

This is definitely not a day trip, but still a beautiful and interesting spot to see or take photos when you are On Tenerife. Although the arc is located in the middle of nowhere there is a bus station three minutes away from it.

5. Take a surf lesson

there are several surf spots on Tenerife. I went surfing in el Medano and it was perfect for beginners. You can either rent a surf board (there are plenty of shops) or take a surf class like this one:

6. Watch the sunset at Los Gigantes

Watch the sunset at Los Gigantes. Los Gigantes is a nice town with a port and amazing rocks. From here you have the perfect Sunset view.

6. Make a kayaking tour, see dolphins and turtles and go snorkelling

This trip was so much fun! I booked this trip, not knowing what to expect tbh. The kayaking was exhausting and I really recommend you to bring a hat, water and sunscreen, but all of this was worth it when we spotted two huge sea turtles taking their head out of the water. We also saw dolphins hinting their fish near a fish farm and saw an impressive cave in the rocks.

7. Go on a hike around El Teide

Unfortunetley I didn’t make it on Top of el Teide, but I did walk around it and it was so impressive. This is a must do! You can either drive by yourself and visit different view points or you book a guided tour like this one: https://www.getyourguide.com/tenerife-l350/mount-teide-cable-car-return-ticket-with-pick-up-t351351/?partner_id=HEXVA8L&utm_medium=online_publisher (it already included tickets for the gondola)

8. Visit El Medano and go shopping

El Medano is a cute town in the south of Tenerife. It has a beach, nice shops and restaurants where you can try local food.

9. Visit Santa Cruz, the capital city

Santa Cruz is the Capital City of Tenerife, so you need to visit it at least for half a day. There are several museums to see, shops and the Auditorio de Tenerife (on the picture)

10. Admire the green North of the island

The north of Tenerife is beautiful and you will love it if you are a fan of mountains. Take a day to drive around, find some nice view points and have a picnic or lay at a beach.

Only my instagram account you will find more photos and videos of my trip to Tenerife! I’d be happy if you check it out and leave a follow 🙂
